Box Score The Lindenwood field hockey team lost Saturday afternoon 8-3 to No.1 and defending national champions West Chester. This was the second game in back-to-back days for the Lady Lions against two of the top teams in NCAA Division II.
West Chester opened up the scoring with a goal at the 13-minute mark of the first half, and followed that up with two more quick goals. This left the score at 3-0 just under 19 minutes into the game.
Lindenwood bounced back in the second half with a
Kristi O'Connor goal a minute into the second half. The Lady Lions would concede a goal to make the score 5-1.
O'Connor answered back for Lindenwood with her second score on the afternoon followed up with a goal from
Carly Brengosz cutting the score to 5-3. The defending champs proved to be too much, however, adding three goals late in the match.
Next up for the Lady Lions is a road test against Bellarmine University Sept. 13 in Louisville, Ky.
