No. 18 Men's Soccer Falls Behind Early But Rallies To Defeat UMSL

Box Score The No. 18 Lindenwood men's soccer team started off the 2013 season with a win at the MIAA/GLVC Classic in Rolla, Mo.  The Lions fell behind early but scored two unanswered goals in the second half to beat the University of Missouri-St. Louis Tritons 2-1.

The Tritons scored the first goal of the game in the 32nd minute, which was the lone goal of the first half.

With the Lions trailing by a goal, Aris Nukic would net his first goal of the season and tie the game up at one. Just 16 minutes later, Ignacio Romero broke the tie and gave Lindenwood the 2-1 lead. The goal was Romero's first of the season and was set up by Mauricio Medina.

The Tritons outshot the Lions 20-15 with nine on goal for UMSL and six for the Lions. Reigning freshman of the year in the MIAA, Fermin Hughes, got the win in the net stopping all but one of the nine shots he faced.

Lindenwood is back in action Sunday afternoon against the host school of the classic, Missouri Science and Technology.
