Men's Swimming Wins Second Straight Competition

The Lindenwood men's swimming and diving team won its second straight meet this weekend after capturing the team title at the Washington Invitational. The Lady Lions finished second at the competition.

The men's team opened up a 61-point lead during day one of the competition and then pulled away during day two of the event. The Lions ended with 894.50 points, over 154 more than runner-up Washington.

Lindenwood won six of the 20 events while capturing the men's title. The Lions won two relays, and Sylwester Borowicz-Skoneczny and Ramunas Paknys each won two individual titles.

Lindenwood won the 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay. The squad of Paknys, Mateusz Pacholczyk, Alex Sajewski, and Ivars Akmentins won the 200 medley in a time of 1:35.34. The 400 medley relay team finished in a time of 3:27.30 and consisted of Paknys, Pacholczyk, Gustavo Silva Santa, and Cody Friedhoff.

Borowicz-Skoneczny won the 500 free (4:37.17) and 1650 free (15:53.45) events. Paknys swept the back events, winning the 100 back (50.90) and 200 back (1:51.14).

The women's team finished with 855 points and finished ahead of everyone in the six-team field except for the host, Washington. The Bears won the competition with 1,139 points.

The women's team had three individual winners. Ashley Holland won the 1m dive with a score of 364.90. Kyleigh Troxel was the fastest swimmer in the 1650 free with a mark of 17:46.43. Alecia McGillivray won the 200 free race in a time of 1:57.09.

Lindenwood swimming and diving concludes its regular season on Jan. 25 with a dual at Missouri State.
