Box Score The Lindenwood men's volleyball team took a set from No. 15 Ohio State on Saturday evening at Hyland Arena, but the Buckeyes won the final two sets for a 3-1 win over the Lions. The scores of the match were 25-18, 16-25, 25-22, and 25-17.
Ohio State hit .722 and easily won the first set, but Lindenwood turned the table in set two. Lindenwood hit .545 in that set, while the Buckeyes had a negative hitting percentage.
Michael Adams led the charge by having eight kills and no errors in 10 attempts. He also had three service aces and was Lindenwood's server during a 6-0 run that sealed the set.
The turning point of the match came late in the third set. Lindenwood led throughout the early part of the set, including at 14-11. The two teams were tied at every point until 20-20. Ohio State then scored five of the final seven points to win the set.
In the deciding set, Ohio State grabbed an early lead and then put the match away by going on an 11-4 run at the end of the match.
Ohio State hit .312 for the match, compared to a .268 mark for Lindenwood. The Lions had six more kills and four more blocks, but they committed 19 service errors.
Adams finished with a team-high 17 kills and had a .467 hitting percentage.
Kyle Overby was also in double figures with 13 kills.
Colin Hackworth and
Logan Jarus both had six blocks, and
Tim Schmidt led the team with 42 assists and eight digs.
Lindenwood, now 1-2 on the year, will have to bounce back quickly. The Lions are in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hyland Arena against Carthage.
