The Lindenwood men's and women's swimming and diving teams both won their home openers on Saturday morning. The Lions defeated Missouri-St. Louis and Lewis, while the Lady Lions were first against Missouri-St. Louis, Maryville, and Lewis.
On the men's side, Lindenwood won 159-39 over Missouri-St. Louis and 147-58 over Lewis. For the women, Lindenwood won 169-17 over Missouri-St. Louis, 168-43 over Marvyille, and 124.50-80.50 versus Lewis. The Lions won 11 of the 13 men's events, and the Lady Lions captured 10 of the 13 women's events.
On the men's side, three swimmers and one diver won two individual events on the day.
Sylwester Borowicz-Skoneczny won the 1000 free and 500 free, Serghi Golban won the 50 free and 100 free,
Gustavo Silva Santa was first in the 200 IM and 100 fly, and
David Cochran had the highest score in the one-meter and three-meter dive. Other winners for the men's team were the 200 medley relay,
Jakub Jonczyk in the 100 back, and
Mateusz Pacholczyk in the 100 breast.
For the women's team,
Lena Kirchner and
Shelby Werkema won two events apiece. Kirchner won the 1000 free and 500 free, and Werkema won both diving competitions. Nike Dahl won the 50 free,
Alecia McGillivray was first in the 200 IM,
Hannah Vinyard won the 100 fly, and
Jocelyn Woo won the 100 back. The women's program also swept the 200 free and the 200 medley relays.
Lindenwood swimming and diving will remain home next weekend for a 12 p.m. event against Truman State and Drury.
