complete resultsThe Lindenwood swimming and diving teams both won team titles at the Delta State Christmas Invitational. The Lions and Lady Lions defeated Delta State, Birmingham-Southern, and Lindenwood-Belleville.
The Lindenwood men's team finished with 1188 points, defeating the host school by 107. The Lions outscored the combined totals of the other two schools.
The Lady Lions finished with 1130 points and they defeated Delta State by 128 points. Lindenwood's women's team also compiled more points than the combined score of the other two programs at the meet.
Day One Recap
Both Lindenwood programs jumped out to the lead right away, with the women holding a 73-point advantage, and the men having a 62-point lead after day one.
On the women's side, Lindenwood captured five first-place titles on day one. The women's 200 free relay came in first to open the day.
Alecia McGillivray won the 500 free,
Audra Thornton won the 200 IM,
Renata Xavier Cabral won the 50 free, and
Carleen Wayne was first in the three-meter dive. McGillivray set a new pool record in her victory.
The men's team also won the 200 free relay, and had two individual first-place finishes.
Sylwester Borowicz-Skoneczny won the 500 free and
Serghei Golban won the 50 free.
Day Two Recap
The women and men both increased their leads on day two of the competition. The Lady Lions led by 86 points after the day, while the men had a 76-point advantage.
The men's team won five titles on day two, including sweeping the two relays on the day in the 400 medley relay and 800 free relay. Borowicz-Skoneczny won the 1000 free,
Mateusz Pacholczyk won the 100 breast, and
Jakub Jonczyk won the 100 back.
On the women's side,
Shelby Werkema helped Lindenwood sweep the diving events by winning one-meter competition.
Maike Tweesmann won the 200 free, and the women's 800 free relay recorded the fastest time at the event.
Day Three Recap
Lindenwood ended the meet in grand fashion as both the men's and women's 400 free relay teams won first place. The men's team was especially impressive as it established a pool record.
Also on Monday, Lindenwood added three more women's titles, and another pool record. McGillivray finished first in the 1650 free in a record-setting time. Xavier Cabral won the 100 free and
Hannah Vinyard won the 200 fly title.
Borowicz-Skoneczny won another event, this one coming in the 1650 free. Also on the men's side,
Felix Eigel won the 200 back and Pacholczyk won the 200 breast.
