Box Score Box Score

The Lindenwood men's lacrosse dropped its first game of the season Thursday night to Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. The game was toughly contested throughout with Rollins winning 13-12.

The Lions were lead by a pair of standouts attackers with Troy O'Donnell scoring four goals along with two assists lead the team in points and shots. Senior McNein Hewitt had a hat trick in the game scoring three goals on eight shows

Rollins jumped out to an early three-goal lead in the first quarter, but Lindenwood would fight back with goals from Matt Schenk, O'Donnell, and then Brandon Stuebing. After tying the game up, the Lions took the lead on an early second quarter goal. The second was back-and-forth with the home Tars taking a one-goal advantage into the break.

The game continued to be back-and-forth after the halftime break.  Rollins would hold a 10-8 lead going into the final quarter. Rollins added two quick goals to begin the fourth quarter, however the Lions would battle back.

Three unanswered Lindenwood goals cut the deficit to just one. Rollins scored a goal with two minutes left to seemingly seal the game. A Tars penalty gave the Lions one last chance. The fourth O'Donnell goal came on the extra-man advantage under a minute left. One last shot after a won faceoff sailed just wide allowing the home team to escape with the victory.
