The Lindenwood men's lacrosse fell Saturday afternoon to Saint Leo University 12-3 in the second game of the team's Florida road trip.
The Lions got out to the early 1-0 lead just two minutes into the game with a goal from
McNein Hewitt. The goal was Hewitt's fourth already in two games played.
Saint Leo responded with a pair of goals a minute apart from each other to take the lead at 2-1.
Troy O'Donnell had the answer for the road team to even the score up at 2-2. He was able to fire the ball, on a pass from long-stick midfielder
Graeme Hossack, passed the Saint Leo goalie for his fifth goal of the season.
Hossack once again led the team in groundballs as he grabbed six while also causing six turnovers.
The home team from there on put together a string of goals. Saint Leo scored seven unanswered goals to push the lead to 9-2 until O'Donnell answered for Lindenwood with his sixth goal of the game and his second in the game. He currently leads the team in both goals and points.
The Lions would concede three late fourth quarter goals in the span of two minutes to give the home team the win 12-3.
Jake Redlingshafer got the start in net once again for Lindenwood giving up nine of the 12 goals before being replaced by Senior
Adam Ure late.
Lindenwood falls to 0-2 on the young season with the loss. The team will be in action Mar. 1 in a neutral site game against Colorado Mesa in Kansas City, Mo.
