Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team closed out the 2014 Eckerd Tournament with a pair of losses on Sunday afternoon in Clearwater, Fla. The first game of the day the Lady Lions fell to Florida Institute of Technology 7-2 and finished the weekend losing to Rollin 12-0.
Florida Tech got on the scoreboard early and often in game one. The Panthers scored one run in the first inning then five in the second. Then in the fourth they added to the total with another single tally. The Lady Lions mustered just two runs in the fourth.
Courtney Opich and
Kendall Ryndak both led the team with two hits. Ryndak and
Deidre Merli each drove in a run.
Morgan Colvis started for Lindenwood and pitched all seven innings surrendering five earned runs and struck out five.
The second game of the day also started out rough for the Lady Lions. Rollins scored eight runs in the bottom of the first and cruised to the win. Lindenwood was shut down on offense compiling just two hits.
The Lady Lions finished the weekend tournament with a record of 2-4. Lindenwood will be off until Feb. 23 when the team will play its home opener against Fontbonne.
