Softball Team Splits a Doubleheader at Northeastern State

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood Lady Lions softball team split a doubleheader with the Northeastern State Riverhawks on Monday afternoon in Tahlequah, Okla. The Lady Lions won game one 3-1 and then fell 3-1 in the second game.

The Riverhawks started the scoring off in the day's first game with a single tally in the third inning. Christina Young answered back for Lindenwood driving in two runs on a single. Young then gave the Lady Lions an insurance run in the top of the sixth with a RBI.

Morgan Colvis started for Lindenwood and threw a complete game for the win. In her seven innings, Colvis gave up one unearned run and struck out five.

Northeastern State took the early lead in the second game after scoring two runs in the bottom of the second. The Lady Lions cut the lead in half in the next half inning scoring a run after a throwing error by the Riverhawks.

Unfortunately, for Lindenwood that would be the only run the team could bring across. The home team added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth and went on to the win.

Brooke Miller had her best start of the season on the rubber but was saddled with the loss. Miller threw five innings giving up three runs on five hits.

With the split the Lady Lions record runs to 3-10 overall and 1-3 in MIAA play. Lindenwood returns home on Friday afternoon to take on the Lincoln Blue Tigers.
