Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team swept a double header from the Lincoln Blue Tigers on Friday afternoon in St. Charles. The Lady Lions won game one 7-1 and finished off the sweep with another 7-1 win in game two.
Both pitchers started off putting up zeroes. Neither team put a player on base until the third inning. The Lady Lions finally broke through with a four-run inning in the fourth. Lincoln got on the scoreboard in the next half inning but could only muster one run. Lindenwood continued the offense in the fifth with three runs.
The seven runs is all Lady Lions starter
Morgan Colvis needed. She went all seven innings for the win and struck out eight.
Courtney Opich led the Lady Lions offense with three hits in four at bats. She also scored two runs and drove in a run.
The second game of the day started with Lindenwood getting on the scoreboard first once again. The Lady Lions scored two in the bottom of the third and then added two more in the fifth. Lincoln got its first run of the game in the sixth with a single tally. Lindenwood added another three in the bottom of the sixth and cruised to the win.
Ryndak started for the Lady Lions and earned her first win of the season after going seven innings and giving up just one run. Diedre Merli and
Brittany Rozier led the offense with two RBIs each.
With the sweep the Lady Lions improve to 5-10 on the season and even their MIAA record at 3-3. Lindenwood and Lincoln will be back in action Saturday afternoon in Jefferson City, Mo.
