Baseball Drops Two Games to Georgia Regents

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood baseball team lost both games on Sunday to Georgia Regents by scores of 6-2 and 8-3 in Augusta, Ga.

Game one started with the Lions trailing 4-0 after three innings that was followed by a run scored in the top of the fourth when Ryan Light drove in Mike Failoni. Unable to keep the game within three runs the Lions surrendered two more runs in the half inning to follow.

Failoni was able to get the Lions another run when he hit a double to bring in Jerry Roam from second. Lindenwood could not mount a comeback and fell 6-2 in game one. Marshall Vallandingham, Roam, and Failoni each had a multi-hit game as Failoni led the team with three hits.

Game two started almost the same way as Georgia Regent jumped out to a three run lead after three innings. Light put the Lions within two runs after his fourth inning solo blast. The Lions allowed two runs in the bottom of the fifth and three more in the bottom of the seventh. Lindenwood could not manufacture the defense to stop Georgia Regents falling 8-3 in game two.

Failoni had four hits throughout the day with one double, one stolen base, and one run scored. Roam had three hits with two being doubles.

The Lions drop to 3-9 on the year and will return to the field on Friday to take on Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla. for a four-game series starting at 1 p.m.
