Box Score The Lindenwood men's lacrosse team fell on the road to eleventh-ranked Mercyhurst Saturday afternoon 10-5.
Lindenwood battled for most the way before the Lakers eventually pulled away in the fourth quarter.
The Lions struck first with a
Brandon Stuebing goal off of an excellent setup pass from
Matt Schenk to go up 1-0 just two minutes into the game.
Mercyhurst would answer with three unanswered goals before a
McNein Hewitt blast to put Lindenwood down just one.
Just 40 seconds later off of a faceoff win
Jon George scored for Lindenwood to even up the game 3-3 before halftime.
The Lakers opened up the second half with a quick goal, however the Lions had the answer and a man-up goal put in for Stuebing's second goal.
The back-and-forth continued with a Mercyhurst goal then a minute later George rocketed one past the Laker goalie to tie it at 5-5. Two late goals for the home team within eight seconds of each other game the Lakers a 7-5 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Under a minute into the final quarter, Mercyhurst scored yet another goal to get up by a comfortable three goal margin.
The Lakers added two more goals to get to the final score of 10-5.
The loss dropped Lindenwood to 0-5 for the season and 0-2 in ECAC play. The Lions are back in action Tuesday night against Adams State.
