Men's Volleyball Takes Ohio State To Five Sets Before Falling

Box Score The Lindenwood men's volleyball team gave Ohio State all it could handle on Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio, but the Buckeyes were able to escape with a 3-2 victory. The Lions lost the MIVA match by scores of 20-25, 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 15-11.
 
The Lions outhit Ohio State for the match, but the Buckeyes defense came up big in the fifth set. Ohio State had three blocks, and Lindenwood also had three unforced hitting errors in the set. Three of those attack errors came during a 5-1 Ohio State run early in the set which helped the Buckeyes open up a four-point advantage that proved to be the difference in the set.
 
Lindenwood had 11 more kills than Ohio State and 10.5 more points in the match. The Lions made 24 service errors though, compared to just eight for the Buckeyes. Lindenwood finished the match with a .245 hitting percentage, while Ohio State hit .218 for the night.
 
Colin Hackworth led Lindenwood with 22 kills, five blocks, and three service aces. Michael Adams finished with 13 kills, followed by Tim Huizinga with nine kills. Tim Schmidt had 55 assists and David Poole had 10 digs.
 
The Lions continue MIVA play next weekend with road matches at Loyola Chicago and Lewis.
