Box Score The Lindenwood softball team jumped out to an early lead on Friday afternoon but could not hold on and fell to Roosevelt 10-6 at the Lou Brock Complex.
Things started off quickly for the Lady Lions. Lindenwood scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning on six hits. Roosevelt started to chip away at the lead in the third inning when the Lakers scored two runs on a two-run home run. Then the visitors continued to chip away and took the lead in the fourth after scoring four runs. Roosevelt would add on to its lead with another four run frame in the fifth.
Both teams compiled 10 hits each while the teams also combined for six errors.
Deidre Merli led the team with two hits.
Brittany Rozier drove in two runs for the home team.
The loss drops the Lady Lions to 2-7 on the season. Lindenwood will start MIAA play on Sunday afternoon when the team travels to Central Oklahoma.
