Men's Volleyball Ends Season In First Round Of MIVA Tournament

Box Score The Lindenwood men's volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Friday night in the first round of the MIVA Tournament. The Lions fell to No. 13 Ball State by scores of 28-26, 25-23, and 25-20.
 
The first two sets were back and forth with 28 ties and 11 lead changes between the sets. Ball State had the first set point in the first game, but Lindenwood recorded two straight kills to take the advantage. Ball State managed to kill off Lindenwood's set point and scored three times for the 28-26 win. The second set was tied at 22 before the Cardinals scored three of the final four points for the victory.
 
An early 3-0 run by Ball State in set three gave it an 8-5 lead, and the Lions could never catch up. Lindenwood was within two at 22-20 before Ball State scored three straight to clinch the match.
 
Ball State hit .316 for the match, compared to .233 for the Lions. The Cardinals had 12 more kills which was the biggest difference statistically between the two teams.
 
Michael Adams ended his Lindenwood career with 11 kills and he hit .360 for the match. Another senior, Scott Siwicki, had nine kills and hit .500. Two other seniors appeared in the match as Tim Schmidt had team-highs of 33 assists and 10 digs, and David Poole had seven digs from his libero position.
 
Lindenwood ends its 2014 season with a 19-12 record.
