Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team swept a two-game series from the Washburn Ichabods on Saturday afternoon in St. Charles. Lindenwood won game one 7-2 and game two 6-4. The sweep allowed the Lady Lions to qualify for the MIAA Conference Tournament in Kansas City.

Game one started with Washburn scoring the first run of the game in the top of the first. It didn't Lindenwood long to answer. The Lady Lions stole four bases in the bottom of the first inning and scored three runs to take the lead.

After both teams held the other scoreless in the second, Lindenwood put four runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Lady Lion starter Kendall Ryndak took care of things from there. The junior would only give up one more run over the final six innings and earned her 10th win of the season.

Erin Pietzman, Madison Huot, and Diedre Merli all had two hits to lead the Lindenwood offense. Merli drove in two runs while Courtney Opich and Pietzman each drove in one.
Game two saw the Lady Lions score at least one run in every inning but one. The game started with Washburn and Lindenwood scoring single tallies in the first. The Lady Lions then scored a run in the second, two in the fourth, and single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Washburn tries to get back in the game in the sixth and seventh innings scoring two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh. But Brooke Miller came into the game in the sixth and earned her first save of the season.

Ryndak and Hannah Braun led the team at the plate with three hits each. Ryndak drove in a career-high four runs.

With the sweep the Lady Lions end the 2014 regular season with an overall record of 20-27 and a MIAA mark of 12-14. After sweeping the Ichabods the Lady Lions finished in a tie for seventh place and will play in the MIAA Conference Tournament for the first time.

Lindenwood will play the No. 2 seed and defending National Champions, Central Oklahoma, on Thursday in Kansas City, Mo.
