Softball Team Splits Another Series

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 For the seventh time in the last eight series the Lindenwood softball team split a doubleheader. This time the Lady Lions split a pair of games with McKendree in Lebanon, Ill. Lindenwood won the first game 7-4 then dropped game two by the same score.
 
Things started off well for the Lady Lions in game one when the visitors scored two runs in the top of the first inning. But things turned quickly as the Bearcats answered with four runs of its own.
 
McKendree would hold the lead until the fifth inning when Lindenwood's offense exploded. The Lady Lions compiled five hits and scored five runs in the frame to take a commanding 7-4 lead.
 
Deidre Merli led the Lindenwood offense going three-for-four at the plate and also drove in three runs. Hannah Braun chipped in with a pair of RBIs as well.
 
After a shaky first inning Lindenwood starter, Kendall Ryndak pitched all seven games giving up five hits and striking out eight.
 
The second game of the day was all McKendree. The Bearcats scored a run in the first and another in the third followed by a five run frame in the fourth to jump out to a big lead. Lindenwood was able to score two runs in the fifth and one in the sixth and seventh but it wasn't enough.
 
Brooke Tiehes led the Lady Lions offense with two hits and a RBI. Morgan Colvis started for Lindenwood and pitched 3 1/3 innings.
 
After the split the Lady Lions overall record sits at 15-20. Lindenwood will be back home on Friday afternoon to take on the Missouri Western Griffons.
