Game one of the day was all Central Oklahoma. The Bronchos got a stellar performance from starting pitcher Kalynn Schrock who gave up just three hits to the Lady Lions in seven innings The win was her 24
th on the year.
Central Oklahoma scored its first run of the game in the second inning then added to its total in the fourth with a pair of runs. The Bronchos three runs were all they needed.
Kendall Ryndak started for the Lady Lions and did not pitch bad. She gave up just five hits and two earned runs while also striking out three.
Game two of the night was a must-win for Lindenwood and that is exactly what the team did. And it was in dramatic fashion for that matter.
All the action started late in the game. With the Lady Lions trailing in 3-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning,
Courtney Opich came off the bench and hit a two-run home run to give them the lead.
After giving up the lead the Bearcats took their turn to come from behind. Northwest hit a two-run home run to give them a lead and followed up with a solo shot to take a two run lead heading into the final half inning. That looked like it could be enough for Northwest Missouri but the Lady Lions had better plans.
Lindenwood put two runners on in the last of the seventh and were down to its final out. Enter freshman
Brooke Tiehes who crushed a three-run walk-off home run to give the Lady Lions the win. The home run was Tiehes first of her career and it couldn't have come at a better time.
Ryndak led Lindenwood at the plate in game two going four-for-four. Opich pitched in with two hits and two RBI.
The win against Northwest helped the Lady Lions move to day two of the tournament. Lindenwood will take on the Fort Hays State Tigers on Friday morning at 11 a.m. in a win or go home game.
