Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Hits 100-Point Mark In Seventh Straight Win

The Lindenwood men's basketball team cracked 100 points for the second time this season on Saturday afternoon at Hyland Arena. The Lions defeated Robert Morris-Springfield by a 104-68 score.

In the first half, the Lions used their outside game to jump out to the lead. Lindenwood hit seven-of-11 three-pointers in the half, and led 48-37 at halftime. Three of those three-pointers came from Chanse Creekmur in the first 80 seconds of the game, as he sparked Lindenwood to a 13-0 lead early on. The Eagles cut that lead down to five midway through the half, but the Lions quickly worked it back up to double-digits.

In the second half, Lindenwood's big men took over the bulk of the team's offense. The Lions scored 30 points in the paint in the final half and shot 63.9 percent from the field. The game was still up for grabs until Lindenwood went on a 13-0 run starting with 13:20 left. Mader had four points during that quick spurt, with two field goals coming off offensive rebounds.

Lindenwood finished the game shooting 61.9 percent from the field, including making 12-of-18 from three-point range. Robert Morris-Springfield shot 49.1 percent from the field, but just 44 percent after halftime, as Lindenwood's defense also helped the Lions pull away. The Lions won the rebounding battle 34-25 and they had eight less turnovers.

Cory Arentsen led Lindenwood's scoring effort with 21 points. It was his fifth game this season with 20 or more points. He made seven-of-12 from the field, including all three three-pointers he attempted. Mader finished with 18 points on eight-of-10 shooting, and he had a team-high six rebounds. Also in double-figures were Creermur with 16 and LJ McIntosh with 11.  Darris Smith led the team with six assists, and McIntosh had two steals.

Lindenwood received 42 of its points from the bench. McIntosh led the bench in scoring, followed by Scott Kroeger with eight, and Michael Boos and Garrett Reeg with six apiece. Thirteen of the 14 Lions who saw playing time in the game scored at least two points.

Lindenwood has now won seven straight games and it is 11-6 on the season. The Lions resume conference play on Thursday night with a road contest at Southwest Baptist.
