The Lindenwood women's hockey team could not get a bounce to go its way late in the game against Robert Morris on Friday night in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Lady Lions hit the pipe twice in the final five minutes of regulation before falling in overtime by a 2-1 score.

Lindenwood and Robert Morris played a defensive first two periods as the two teams combined for just 26 shots, and neither team was able to get on the scoreboard.

In the third period, both offenses opened up, helped by a total of five power plays in the period. Lindenwood took 18 shots, while Robert Morris had 13 in the period.

The first shot to make it past a goalie came from Lindenwood's
Holly Dietzler. The sophomore scored her first collegiate goal at the 6:45 mark with assists from
Jordyn Constance and
Tae Otte. The Colonials took over the action after that goal, attempting 10 shots at one point in a three-minute span. Five of those shots made it on goal and the final one tied the game at one at the 12:36 mark.

Lindenwood had its best chance to win the game with less than six minutes remaining when it had a five-on-three advantage for 70 seconds. The Lady Lions got six shots on goal with the two-man advantage, but couldn't get one in the net. After Robert Morris killed off one penalty, Dietzler nearly scored again but hit the pipe. Later in the period,
Lyndsay Kirkham also hit a pipe with a shot.

In overtime, Lindenwood outshot Robert Morris 4-2, but the Colonials were able to score with just 21 seconds left. The overtime period was the third of the season between the two teams, and Robert Morris now holds a 2-1-0 lead in those extra periods.

Lindenwood falls to 7-14-1 on the season and 4-6-1 in conference play. The Lady Lions will look to earn a split in the series when the two teams meet again on Saturday afternoon.
