The Lindenwood men's basketball team used another strong shooting night to upend the Pittsburg State Gorillas 69-65 in Pittsburg, Kan. on Saturday afternoon.
The contest was a nip and tuck game from the very start. Neither team had a lead bigger than five points the whole game. The Lions started the game shooting 50 percent from the field in the opening half and led 33-30 heading into the locker room.
Even as good as the Lions shooting was in the first half, the second half was even better. Lindenwood shot 57 percent from the field and 67 percent from behind the arc and held on for the hard fought MIAA conference win.
Three Lions scored in double figures led by
Cory Arentsen who scored 16.
LJ McIntosh and
Darris Smith each chipped in with 13 as well.
Sam Mader led the way on boards grabbing rebounds.
After the win Lindenwood improved top 7-6 overall and 3-2 in MIAA play. Up next for the Lions is a road game against the Emporia State Hornets on Monday night.Â
