Box Score After not winning since the season opener, the Lindenwood women's soccer team found itself back on the winning side as they defeated Missouri Southern 1-0 on Saturday afternoon in Joplin, Mo.

The Lady Lions looked to take out some frustration after dropping two of the first three matches on the road trip.
Kat Roe found an opening early in the third minute and fired a shot, but Missouri Southern goalkeeper Shawnee Phillips turned it away. At the 3:59 mark, midfielder
Alexis Robbers broke through the defense by herself, and beat Phillips to give the lady Lions an early 1-0 lead. Missouri Southern found some chances soon after, but the Lady Lions were back on the attack. Robbers nearly had her second goal of the day when she hit a header that Phillips saved.

Lindenwood had four more shot the last six minutes of the half with a corner opportunity, but Missouri Southern's defense held steady heading into halftime.

Missouri Southern went on the prowl immediately in the second half firing two shots and getting a corner kick in the first three minutes. The Lady Lions then regained control the next ten minutes with two kicks coming off of a pair of corners. Both teams exchanged opportunities the remainder of the half before Missouri Southern had a chance to tie the match as time was narrowing down. Lindenwood surrendered a corner kick with two minutes left, which found the foot of Missouri Southern's Hannah Bomar, but sailed wide to end the match in favor of a Lindenwood 1-0 score.

Lindenwood totaled 18 shots, but only five on goal. Missouri Southern out-fouled the Lady Lions 13-6, and also had five shots on goal. Lindenwood goalkeeper
Jordan Gnolfo recorded her first career shutout in net. Robbers netted her team-leading fifth goal of the 2015 season.

The Lady Lions improve to 2-7-3 on the season, and 1-4-1 in MIAA play. Lindenwood returns to Hunter Stadium on Friday, October 16, to take on Northeastern State with a 7:30 pm start time.
