Storylines- The Lindenwood football team travels to No. 3 Northwest Missouri this Saturday for a 1 p.m. game at Bearcat Stadium in Maryville, Mo. Bearcat Stadium is the final MIAA stadium that the Lions have yet to visit since joining the MIAA.

- Lindenwood is 1-4 on the season and in MIAA play. The Lions played No. 23 Emporia State close last Saturday in the MIAA Television Network Game of the Week, but they fell by a 20-13 margin. Lindenwood got within seven points with 4:41 remaining in the game, but the Hornets did not allow the Lions to get the ball back.

- Northwest Missouri is 5-0 on the season. It is tied for first with Emporia State in the MIAA standings, and it is No. 3 in the NCAA Division II national ranking. The Bearcats had their largest victory of the season last week with a 59-7 road victory at Northeastern State.

- Lindenwood and Northwest Missouri have met just once before. Last year in St. Charles, the Bearcats, who were ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time, defeated the Lions by a 51-20 margin.

- Northwest Missouri is the highest ranked team that Lindenwood has faced on the road since moving to the NCAA level. The Lions are 1-9 against nationally-ranked teams, including a 0-5 mark against top-10 teams and a 0-2 record against top-five programs.

- Lindenwood has faced one of the toughest schedules in the MIAA so far this year. Including Northwest Missouri, the Lions have faced three ranked opponents in their first six games, and the combined record of their opponents is 24-6 (.800). The combined record of its remaining opponents after this week is just 5-20 (.200).

- The Lions offense will be going against the No. 1 defense in the MIAA this week. The Bearcats are first in scoring defense, total defense, rushing defense, and passing defense. Lindenwood had its best passing game of the season last week, completing over 60 percent of its passes. The Lions also did not turn the ball over in the game.

- Lindenwood's defense held Emporia State to 24 points below its season average last week. It will be matched up against a Bearcat offense averaging 405.2 yards and 39.0 points a game.

Lions Offense- Lindenwood is ninth in the MIAA in scoring offense (16.4), and in total offense (306.8).

- Quarterback
Mason Bendigo, a redshirt freshman, earned his first collegiate start against Emporia State. He threw for 224 yards and one touchdown. His 21 completions were the most by a Lions quarterback this year.

Jaron Alexander jumped two spots to third place in Lindenwood's record book for career receptions. He now has 134 receptions, two behind Matt Bramow and 19 behind Andrew Helmick.

Tre' Roby has caught a touchdown pass in the last three games he has appeared in. He leads the team in scoring on the year.

Lavorrie Johnson is averaging 6.14 yards per carry in the last two games, and he has 129 rushing yards in that span.

Lions Defense- Lindenwood is ninth in the MIAA in scoring defense (30.8), and is ninth in total defense (435.6).

Connor Harris has moved into first place among all active players at all levels of NCAA football with 395 career tackles. He is four ahead of Arkansas Tech's Logan Genz and Temple's Tyler Matakevich.

Connor Harris' 24 tackles last week was a new career-high for the linebacker. It was also the second-most in NCAA Division II football this season. Harris now leads all levels of NCAA football with 16.8 tackles a game. He has recorded double-figure tackles in 10 straight games, and has 22 in his career.

Lions Special Teams- Lindenwood used three punters last week and all three had punts to the 20-yard line or inside the 20, including two each inside the 10 by
Mason Bendigo and
Matt Klingler. Klingler leads the nation with a 47.0 punting average.

Bakari Triggs leads the MIAA in kickoff return average with a 26.0 yard average. He has seven returns for 182 yards, including a long of 57.

DJ Hicks.

Misc. Notes- Lindenwood returns home on Oct. 17 for a 1:30 p.m. game against Nebraska-Kearney. That game will be Homecoming for the Lions.

About Northwest Missouri- Northwest Missouri ranks sixth in NCAA Division II in scoring defense, and eighth in scoring offense. The team has forced 17 turnovers, third-most in the nation.

- Brady Bolles is averaging 232 passing yards a game. He has thrown eight touchdown passes and rushed for four other scores.

- Jacob Vollstedt leads the team with 43 tackles and 6.0 sacks. He also had 6.5 tackles for loss on the year.
