The Lindenwood men's swimming and diving team captured the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championship in its inaugural season in the league. The women's team finished third in its first year in the conference.
For the Lions, it was their second straight conference title after also capturing the NSISC Championship last year. Lindenwood finished the RMAC event with 1,021 points, and finished 180 points ahead of runner-up California Baptist.
The Lady Lions earned 740 points at the event. It finished 313 points behind champion California Baptist, and 8.5 points behind Colorado Mesa in the tight battle for second place.
Jakub Jonczyk was named the RMAC Swimmer of the Meet, and
Jason Owen was named the RMAC Coach of the Year.
Lindenwood won 14 event championships at the conference meet. On the men's side,
Serghei Golban and Jonczyk shared the 50 free title,
Felix Eigel won the 400 IM, Golban was first in the 100 fly, Jankiewicz had the fastest time in the 200 back, and Jonczyk won the 200 free, 100 back, and 100 free. The men's team also won the 200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, and 800 free relay. On the women's side, Alecia McGillivary won the 1000 free and 500 free,
Lena Kirchner won the 1650 free, and the 800 free relay squad came in first.
A total of 27 swimmers and divers earned all-conference honors.

Day One RecapThe Lindenwood men's team jumped out to a lead after collecting 248 points on day one of the competition.
Individually, the highlight was Golban and Jonczyk tying for the 50 free title with a time of 20.35. Szczukowski helped Lindenwood take three of the top four spots by finishing fourth.
In the 1000 free, Borowicz-Skoneczny led the way with a third-place finish, followed by
Gustavo Silva Santa and
Igor Mijatovic finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. In the 200 IM, Lindenwood had three of the top seven, including Martin in second and Eigel in third.
In the competition's first diving event, Cochran finished third with a score of 439.9, and
Schyler Hohenberger was sixth.
The day's only relay was the 200 medley, and Lindenwood's A-team won by less than half a second. That squad consisted of Jankiewicz, Plots, Golban, and Szczukowski.
The Lindenwood women recorded 175 points on day one, the second highest total of the day.
McGillivray got the finals session started by winning the 1000 free by nearly 12 seconds.
Lena Kirchner finished third in that event.
Maike Tweesman was the only Lady Lion in the finals of the 200 IM and she finished eighth. The team came back strong in the 50 free, taking five of the top eight spots. Xavier Cabral was second, Lesinska was fourth,
Bethany Steffes was fifth,
Niki Dahl was sixth, and Tweesmann was eighth.
In the women's 200 medley relay, the team of Defabio, Dymarek, Xavier Cabral, and Lesinska came in second, just 0.14 behind the championship squad.
Day Two RecapLindenwood's men's team opened up a 113-point lead after winning four of five events on the second day of competition. The Lions finished with 274 points on the day.
Individually, Eigel won the 400 IM with a time of 3:56.50. Teammates Martin and Pacholczyk also reached the finals in that event.
In the 100 fly, Golban and Jankiewicz finished one-two, with both defeating the previous RMAC record.
Micah Blackwell was seventh in that competition.
In the 200 free, Lindenwood set another conference record when Jonczyk won in a time of 1:37.77.
In the two relays, Lindenwood won the 400 medley relay and finished second in the 200 free relay. The 400 medley relay team consisted of Jankiewicz, Pacholczyk, Golban, and Jonczyk. The 200 free relay team was made up of Jankiewicz, Szczukowski, Martin, and Golban.
On the women's side, the Lady Lions recorded 230 points on the second day.
Both relay teams were runner-up for Lindenwood's women's team. The 200 free relay team consisted of Lesinska, Xavier Cabral, Steffes, and Dahl. The 400 medley relay individuals were Defabio, Dymarek, Tweesmann, and Xavier Cabral.
McGillivray had the best swimming individual finish coming in second in the 400 IM. Dymarek also placed in the finals of that event by coming in sixth.
Xavier Cabral reached the top finals in the 100 fly and finished fifth overall. In the 200 free,
Audra Thornton and Steffes finished fifth and sixth, respectively.
The first diving event on the women's side took place with the one-meter dive. Wayne was runner-up with a mark of 410.80, and Werkema was fourth with a score of 383.80.
Day Three RecapBoth the Lindenwood teams earned two conference championships on Friday at the RMAC Championships. On the women's side, McGillivray won another title, this time taking the 500 free. Teammate
Lena Kirchner was right behind in second place in that event. The women's team also won the 800 free relay behind strong swims by McGillivray, Steffes, Tweesmann, and Thornton.
For the men, Jonczyk won his third individual title with a win in the 100 back. The Lions earned the top-three spots in that race as Jankiewicz was second, and Golban was third. All three of those swimmers bested the previous RMAC record. The men also won the 800 free relay with a team of Martin, Eigel, Jonczyk, and Silva Santa.
Other highlights for the women included Defabio finishing third in the 100 back, Dymarek finishing second in the 100 breast, and Vinyard being runner-up in the 200 fly.
For the men, Silva Santa finished second in the 500 free and Mijatovic was third in that race. Pacholczyk led three top-eight finishers in the 100 breast with a second-place showing, while Martin was fifth and Plots was sixth. In the 200 fly, Brunfman finishing third, and Blackwell was seventh. In the final men's diving event, Cochran was third in the one-meter dive, followed by Hohenberger in sixth.
The women's team finished with 145 points on the day, while the men's team had a total of 284 points.
Day Four RecapThe final day of action saw Lindenwood win three more individual championships. The men's team had 201 points on the final day, and the women's team had 190 points.
Three of those championships came on the men's side as the Lions wrapped up their conference title. Jonczyk won the 100 free, Jankiewicz was first in the 200 back, and the men's 400 free relay took the fastest time.
In the 100 free, Lindenwood also had the runner-up swimmer in Golban. In the 1650 free, Silva Santa came in fourth and Mijatovic was fifth. In the 200 back, Eigel was second on the team and fourth overall. In the 200 breaststroke, Pacholczyk was runner-up and
Chris Stein was seventh. The 400 free relay team came in second.
For the women, their final individual title came from Kirchner in the 1650 free. In the 100 free, Xavier Cabral was third overall and Lesinska was fourth. McGillivray finished her strong championship by coming in fifth in the 200 back, two spots ahead of Defabio. In the 200 breaststroke, Dymarek had a bronze showing. The final individual event was the three-meter dive in which Wayne finished third and Werkema was fourth. The women's 400 free relay team had a runner-up showing in the final women's event.
