Box Score 4 The Lindenwood softball team went 2-2 at the 8-State Classic in Bentonville, Ark. over the weekend.  
The weekend started with the Lady Lions falling to Southern Arkansas 14-3. The game started off well for the Lady Lions with a run in the first and the second inning which gave them a 2-1 lead. But then in the third inning things turned around quickly and in a bad way.
Southern Arkansas scored six runs in the third, two runs in the fourth, and five more in the six. Southern Arkansas compiled 15 hits and rolled to the victory.
Madison Huot led the way for the Lady Lions at the plate with three hits in three at bats. 
Alexandra Newcomb chipped in with two hits and a RBI.
To close out day one Lindenwood won its first game of the season beating Oklahoma Panhandle State 4-3. The Lady Lions took the first lead of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Oklahoma Panhandle took the lead in the fourth with two runs but Lindenwood came right back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning. The Lady Lions would give up one more run but held on for their first win of the season. 
Huot and and Newcomb led the team with two hits each while 
Alexis Theis hit her second home run of the season in the win. 
Kendall Ryndak earned the win on the rubber going six innings and striking out three. 
Morgan Colvis pitched the final inning to earn her first save of the season. 
Day two started with the Lady Lions taking on the Quincy Hawks. Lindenwood took the early lead with two runs in the second inning. The Hawks tied the score in the fourth but the tie did not last long. The Lady Lions regained the lead in the fifth with a pair of runs and then 
Morgan Colvis did the rest. Colvis threw a complete game while giving up just two earned runs and striking out five. Newcomb and Theis led the way at the plate for Lindenwood with a pair of hits each. 
The weekend closed out with the Lady Lions losing to Henderson State 11-4. Things looked good for Lindenwood after the top half of the first when the team scored two runs. But Hnderson State answered quickly with three runs in the first, four more in the second, and another two in the third inning. The Lady Lions were able to score single tallies in the thirs and the fifth but the Reddies were too much for Lindenwood. 
Henderson State outhit the Lady Lions 13-8. 
Mallory Eitel led the way for the Lady Lions with two hits while Theis drive in a pair of runs. 
After the weekend in Arkansas Lindenwood ran its record to 2-8 overall. Up next for the Lady Lions is a weekend full of games in St. Charles. Lindenwood will take on Maryville Saturday afternoon and Truman State on Sunday afternoon.
