Lady Lions Softball Swept at Home

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team lost a pair of non-conference games on Tuesday afternoon to Lake Superior State in St. Charles. The Lakers won the opening game 6-1 and then held on for a 9-7 win in game two.

Things started off quickly for Lake Superior in the first inning. The Lakers scored six runs with help from the Lindenwood defense. Numerous physical and mental errors led to six runs. The Lions were able to score their only run in the third inning.

Morgan Colvis started for Lindenwood and gave up just three earned runs on six hits and struck out eight.

Game two started quickly for the Lakers once again. The visitors scored three runs in the first and the second to once again jump out to a 6-0 lead. The Lady Lions got on the scoreboard in the second inning when Alexander Newcomb hit a solo home run in the second inning.

Eventually the Lakers would lead 9-2 heading into the fourth inning. Lindenwood started to chip away in the fourth scoring a single tally, then erupting for four more in the fifth to get within two. Unfortunately, that would be as close as the Lady Lions would get.

Newcomb led the way for Lindenwood with three hits in three at bats. Kendall Ryndak had a hit and drove in a pair of runs.

The two losses drop the Lady Lions to 3-15 overall. Lindenwood will be back in action Friday afternoon at home against Central Oklahoma.
