Women's Lacrosse Wins Showdown Against Regis

The No. 3 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team inched closer to another RMAC Championship on Monday afternoon with a 14-13 victory in Denver, Colo. over No. 15 Regis.

The Lady Lions never trailed in the game and held the lead for the entire game except 3:45 in the first half. Lindenwood still needed a dramatic finish though to win the one-goal contest.

Lindenwood led the contest 8-4 at halftime after it scored the final four goals of the half. The Lady Lions extended that lead to 11-5 early in the second half, before Regis started its comeback. The Rangers got within one goal three different times, including with 1:23 remaining in the game.

After Regis made the score 14-13, Lindenwood won the draw control, but turned it over with 50 second remaining. The Rangers drew a free-position shot with just seconds left, and they got a shot on goal off as time expired. Lindenwood goalie Rachel Ortell made her 11th save of the game though to preserve the win.

Regis had a slight advantage in most team stats, including outshooting Lindenwood 31-26, having six more groundballs, and five fewer turnovers. Lindenwood won the majority of draws, had two more saves, and held the Rangers to just four-of-13 on free-position shots.

Sophie Buelow led the offense with three goals and one assist. Jordyn Constance and Morgan Judd both had three goals, including Constance's scoring the game-winner. Melissa Menchella had one goal and a team-high two assists. Molly Beckham had a team-high of three groundballs, and Bailey Knapton led the team with four caused turnovers and five draw controls.

Lindenwood improves to 9-0 on the season and 4-0 in RMAC play. The Lady Lions have two conference games remaining, including Wednesday's contest at Colorado Mesa.
