Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team started its 2015 conference portion of its schedule with a split against the Washburn Ichabods. Washburn won the opening game of the day 6-0 but the Lady Lions won the second game 7-5.
Game one of the day was all Washburn. The home team took a 3-0 lead after the first three innings and then added to the lead with three more runs in the fifth and the sixth. Lindenwood's offense could only muster five hits while the Ichabods had 11 hits.
The final game of the day looked like it was going to be all Lindenwood. The Lady Lions jumped out to a 6-0 lead heading in to the bottom of the sixth inning. But Washburn battled back and scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth to once again make it a game.
The Lady Lions headed into the seventh now with just a one run lead. Lindenwood was able to score an insurance in the top of the seventh and then hold on for the win.
Hannah Braun led the way for the Lady Lions with three hits and a RBI.
Rachel Overton and
Alexis Theis also had two hits each.
Morgan Colvis started on the rubber for Lindenwood and earned the win going 5 1/3 innings giving up no earned runs on seven hits.
After the split the Lady Lions record is now 3-11 overall and 1-1 in MIAA play. Lindenwood will be right back in action Sunday afternoon against Emporia State.
