Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team was shutout twice on Sunday afternoon by No. 23 Emporia State in Emporia, Kan. The Hornets won game one 9-0 and the second game of the day 3-0.
Emporia State got things going early and often in game one. The Hornets score six runs in the first three innings then closed the game out in the fifth with three more runs. Lindenwood's offense had just four hits while Emporia State had 11.
In the second game of the day the Lady Lions did a better job in holding the Hornet's offense down but couldn't score.
Emporia took the early lead with a run in the bottom of the first and then added to it in the fifth with two more runs. Both teams had just five hits on the game.
Morgan Colvis took the loss for the Lady Lions but only gave up two earned runs on five hits.
Lindenwood is not 3-13 overall and 1-3 in MIAA play. The Lady Lions will be back home on Tuesday afternoon against Lake Superior State.
