Box Score 2 The Lindenwood softball team earned its second straight doubleheader sweep on Friday night. The Lady Lions beat the Lincoln Blue Tigers 7-5 in game one and 4-3 in game two in Jefferson City, Mo.
Alexandra Newcomb had a big day at the plate for Lindenwood going five-for-eight with two home runs and five RBIs in the double header. Maddi Bohr also had a good day driving in a pair of runs.
Game one saw the Lady Lions fall behind 4-1 in the early going but the offense would chip away. The final four innings saw Lindenwood score at least a run in each frame. The Lady Lions outhit the Blue Tigers 10-3 and both teams committed three errors each.
Kendall Ryndak started in the circle for Lindenwood and struck out nine hitters in seven innings while earning the win.
Things started off quickly for the Lady Lions in game two. The visitors scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take the lead. Lincoln got within one in the fourth inning with a pair of runs. Lindenwood then scored a single tally in the top of the sixth to regain a two-run lead. Lincoln would threaten in the seventh inning but the Lady Lions would hold on for the win.
After the sweep Lindenwod has now four games in a row and have an overall record of 12-32 and 5-17 in MIAA play. The Lady Lions will be back in action Saturday at home against the same Blue Tigers squad.
