The No. 3 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team clinched the 2015 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Championship on Friday night at Hunter Stadium. The Lady Lions won the title with a 20-7 win over Fort Lewis.
The Lady Lions end their conference season with a 6-0 record. They have now won four straight conference championships, and have a 29-0 conference record since moving to the NCAA level.
Lindenwood pulled away on Friday night late in the first half with four straight goals in the final four minutes. That gave the team a 9-4 halftime advantage. In the second half, the score was 10-6 in favor of the Lady Lions before Lindenwood finished the game 10-1 run.
Melissa Menchella had four goals and five assists in the conference clincher.
Allison Hurley added three goals and an assist.
Lindsey Palmer,
Maddi Ossello, and
Morgan Judd all had three points.
Jamie Miller and Hurley each led the team with four groundballs, and
Bailey Knapton had four caused turnovers and six draw controls.
Rachel Ortell earned the win in goal, making four saves and allowing six goals in nearly 43 minutes play.
Lindenwood improves to 11-1 on the year. The Lady Lions return to action on Sunday in Misenheimer, N.C. with a contest at Pfeiffer.
