Lindenwood had a solid performance at the Purdue Cycling Series April 11-12 in West Lafayette, Ind., earning several podium finishes over the weekend. 

All of the team time trial events took place first at the meet and the Men's A1 squad started with a time of 17:22 to finish second, just 10 ticks of the clock behind Marian.  The Men's A2 squad posted a time of 18:41 for a fourth place showing.  The Lions also won the B category and C category races.  In the women's A event, the Lady Lions were riding with a minimum number of starters, but still managed second with a time of 21:38. 

In the road races, Connor Brown took fourth in the A category event, followed by Matt Brophy in fifth.  Chris Curran took eighth while Josh Johnson finished 11^th.  In the women's A event, Kyrstin Bluhm earned a podium spot in third place with Hannah Finchamp taking seventh.  The Lions were well represented in the B and C races.  Dylan Mason, Lane Johnson, Ian Seibert, and Clayton Otto combined for second, third, fourth, and fifth respectively in the B event, while Mark Keena finished third in the C race.

The criterium events on Sunday proved to be hard-fought and quite competitive.  In the men's A race, the Lions put several riders in position, but couldn't get anyone to the podium, despite a great effort.  Evan Hartig crossed the line in sixth for Lindenwood along with Connor Brown in seventh.  Matt Brophy took 11^th while Josh Carter finished 13^th. 

The Lady Lions A category team started very strongly, despite being outnumbered by Marian at a two-to-one margin.  Hannah Finchamp rode at the front of the peloton almost the entire race, breaking free from over half the field, which really evened up the competitive chances for the Lady Lions with two Marian and two Lindenwood riders in the lead group.  With about eight kilometers to go, the leaders began to lap large groups of women, which completely changed the dynamic and outcome of the race because additional Marian riders were able to help their team, despite being a lap down.  Eventually, Finchamp was unable to set the pace and stay with the peloton.  She fell back for a seventh place finish, but her efforts allowed Kirstin Bluhm to get another podium finish in third.

The Lindenwood men's B squad put on a clinic in their race, taking the two top spots on the podium with Dylan Mason and Clayton Otto, while also taking fifth with Brady Kiss.  In the men's C race, Mark Kenna earned fifth place for the Lions. 

The cycling team has several events over the upcoming weekend.  Lindenwood will host a meet April 17-19 in St. Charles, Mo., with races taking place on campus behind Hyland Arena, at the Boone Home, and in downtown St. Charles on Sunday.  Lindenwood will also compete at the Tillis Park Criterium in St. Louis, Mo., on Sunday with races getting started at 2 p.m.
