Box Score Lindenwood's men's lacrosse team improved to an impressive 11-1 record with a 12-8 victory over conference opponent Walsh University. The Lions outscored Walsh in three of the four quarters. Senior
McNein Hewitt led the Lions on offense with four goals and two assists.
Lindenwood jumped on Walsh to start the game, scoring the first two goals. Walsh wouldn't give up that easy, battling it's way to take its only lead of the game at 4-3. Lindenwood scored a goal before the end of the half, leaving the Lions tied at four going into the half.
The Lions started the second half on fire, scoring three consecutive goals to give the Lions a comfortable lead. The Lions would go on to score six goals in the quarter, compared to three from Walsh. Lindenwood would seal the victory in the fourth by scoring two goals and only allowing Walsh to score one.
While Hewitt led the offense, the offense also received two goals from
Joe Roy and Kevin Eskridge each.
Graeme Hossack and
Jon George each had a goal, and an assist. Lindenwood dominated in shots, getting 41 off, while holding Walsh to 26. Lindenwood out hustled Walsh, bringing in 38 ground balls compared to just 19 for Walsh.
Tyler Schermann has consistently dominated face-offs, helping Lindenwood win 19 out of 23. Lindenwood's man-down defense held Walsh 0-7 on its man-up opportunities.
The win moved Lindenwood's record to 11-1 and 4-1 in ECAC play. Coming up next for the Lions is a trip to Painesville, Ohio to play the No. 3 ranked Lake Erie College for an ECAC showdown.
