Box Score The Lindenwood baseball won the opening game of a huge MIAA series against the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers on Saturday afternoon in Kearney, Neb. The Lions used a huge day from
Ryan Light to win 8-4. Light had three hits and drove in five runs including a home run.
Lindenwood started off early with Light's first RBI to take the 1-0 lead. The third inning it was Light again but this time his single brought in two runs. Just one inning later the Lions added another two runs via a Mike Bibbs home run.
Nebraska-Kearney cut into the lead in the fourth with two runs but the Lions answered right back. Light hit a two-run bomb in the fifth to cap off his huge day.
Austin Klein started for Lindenwood and earned the win after pitching five innings. He struck out four and walked just one in the outing.
The second game of the doubleheader began but weather postponed the action with Nebraska-Kearney winning 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth. The game will resume on Sunday afternoon.
The win improved the Lions to 22-19 overall and 13-12 in MIAA play.Â
