Top MomentThe top moment for the Lindenwood football program during the 2014 season came the opening week after a 44-38 win over Washburn. The game was hard fought, starting with Lindenwood falling in a 17-0 hole in the first ten minutes of the game. The Lions bounced back quickly with a
Marvin Byrd rushing touchdown. Washburn answered back by extending its lead to 24-7, but the Lions scored after a
Connor Harris interception, cutting the Washburn lead to 24-14. The Lions clawed their way back to tie the score at 24-24 after an unanswered touchdown and field goal. In the second-half,
Lavorrie Johnson returned a kick 97 yards for a touchdown. The Lions scored another touchdown off of another
Connor Harris interception. After the touchdown, the Lindenwood defense shut down the Washburn offense to seal the opening week victory. The win was head coach
Patrick Ross's 100
th of his coaching career. Â Harris was the defensive player of the game in his first game back after last year's season-ending shoulder injury. Besides his two interceptions, he also had a team-high 10 tackles.Â
Dante Lewis andÂ
Brian Hawthorne each had six tackles.Â
Devon Durham had a forced fumble and a sack,Â
Xavier Warren had a fumble recovery, and DeShawn Lawson andÂ
Chaz Fulton both assisted on a sack. Offensively,
Dillon Miller finished 24-of-42 passing for 230 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 11 yards.Â
Jaron Alexander had team-highs with six receptions and 64 receiving yards. Johnson was the leading rusher with 42 yards.

Expectations for the 2015 SeasonThe Lindenwood football program expects better results this upcoming season. The Lions have plenty to look forward to and have a great chance to catch the MIAA by surprise. After a great spring, the team has brought in some new players that the coaching staff hopes can contribute immediately, along with the players they already have here and put the team in a great position to compete in the always difficult MIAA.
