Men's Swimming & Diving (Discontinued)

Women's SD Places Second at Show-Me Showdown; Men Third

The Lindenwood swimming and diving team impressed on Friday afternoon at the Show-Me Showdown in Columbia, Mo. as the women placed second, while the men finished third.

Ewa Dymarek placed the highest out of the women as she finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:06.20. Teammates Kate Stauffer and Shelby Quinn placed seventh and 13th, respectively. Dymarek also finished 19th in the 200 IM, while Erin Sutton finished 10th in the event.

Stauffer finished 11th in the 50 free, while Bethany Steffes placed eighth with a time of 24.92.

Three finished in the top-11 in the 200 free: Kamila Kunka placed seventh, Hannah Vinyard ninth, and Lindenwood Belleville-transfer Simone de Rijcke 11th. Vinyard also finished seventh in the 100 fly, as Ola Tomala placed 10th and McKenzie Murphy 15h. Kunka also finished fourth in the 500 free, while Alecia McGillivray and Lena Kirchner finished sixth and seventh, respectively.  

The ladies had four-consecutive finishers in the 100 free, as Kinga Lesinska, de Rijcke, Steffes, and Sutton finished within three-tenths of a second of each other for eighth place through 11th.  

 In the diving portion, Shelby Werkema placed second with 237.25 points in the 1m event.

For the men, Serghei Golban shined as he won the 50 free (20.75) and placed second in the 100 back (49.89). Michal Szczukowski finished 11th in the 50 free, while Ross Watson and Sam Stapleton placed 21st and 23rd, respectively. Blake Logan touched the wall in 10th place in the 100 back with a time of 52.45.

Felix Eigel and Cristian Vasquez finished back-to-back in the 200 IM as they finished sixth and seventh, respectively, while Kian Quigley placed 15th (1:56.25). Quigley also finished 14th in the 100 fly.

In the 100 free, Haoning Chen placed sixth with a time of 47.15 and teammate Joao Silveira finished ninth. Szczukowski recorded a 13th-place finish. Chen also placed seventh in the 100 breast.

Eigel also finished sixth in the 500 free, and Vasquez and Sylwester Borowicz Skoneczny also placed in the top-10.

The men and women will be back to the pool on October 22 when they host Delta State, Indianapolis, Truman State, and Missouri S&T at the St. Peters Rec Plex in St. Peters, Mo. Competition begins at 11:30 a.m.
