The Lindenwood swimming and diving teams hosted Lindenwood-Belleville, Missouri-St. Louis, and Maryville on Saturday afternoon from the Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo. Both the men's and women's team won each of their respective duals on the afternoon, combining for 309 and 381 team points, respectively.
Bethany Steffes got it started for the women individually, winning the 1000 free with a time of 10:57.55. The senior also won the 50 free, touching the wall just .22 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
Simone de Rijcke and
McKenzie Murphy placed first and second in the 200 free, respectively, finishing less than three seconds apart from each other. The win for de Rijcke was her first of the season, as she also placed second in the 100 free, with
Kinga Lesinska winning the event.
Kamila Kunka and
Ola Tomala secured the top two positions in the 200 IM, with Kunka finishing in 2:10.90. The pair also finished second and third in the 200 back, which
Alecia McGillivray won with a time of 2:07.83 in her first race of the season in the event.
Hannah Vinyard won the 200 fly, while
Lena Kirchner placed second behind the senior.
Ewa Dymarek dominated the 500 free, touching the wall nearly 14 seconds before runner-up
Morgan Fischer. Dymarek also won the 200 back for another win individually.
On the diving portion,
Ashley Holloway won both the 1m and 3m event with
Allie Steinhauser placing second.
On the men's side,
Sylwester Borowicz-Skoneczny won the 1000 free with a time of 9:48.78, his best time of the season in the event, as
Blake Logan placed second in the event. Borowicz-Skoneczny also placed third in the 200 fly, while
Joey Martin won the event and
Austin Olivares claimed second.
In the 200 free, the trio of
Felix Eigel,
Cristian Vasquez, and
Kian Quigley finished less than three seconds from each other to claim the top three spots. Eigel also won the 200 back, touching the wall in 1:52.14.
Joao Silveira won the 100 free, while
Michal Szczukowski finished right behind him. Quigley also placed third.
Gustavo Silva Santa won the 500 free, edging out teammate
Christopher Holmes by .22 seconds.
Haoning Chen also found his name on the leaderboard with a win in the 200 breast, finishing in 2:08.71, for his first victory of the season.
Each team will get back to competition December 10-12 at the Delta State Christmas Invitational from Cleveland, Miss.
