Men's Basketball Has First MIAA Road Series At Washburn and Emporia State

This Week's Game At A Glance
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team has its first MIAA road series of the season this week with a Saturday contest at Washburn, followed by a Monday game at Emporia State. The two contests will also be the final ones for the Lions before their Christmas break.
 
• Lindenwood opened its conference season by splitting its first weekend of action. The Lions defeated Pittsburg State by an 89-83 margin, but fell to Missouri Southern by a 77-55 mark.
 
• Washburn is currently 8-2 on the year and 0-2 in MIAA action. The Ichabods fell on the road to Fort Hays State and Nebraska-Kearney in their first two conference games of the year.
 
• Prior to its contest on Saturday versus Lincoln, Emporia State is 4-6 during the 2016-17 season, and 1-1 in conference play. The Hornets lost their MIAA opener last week at Nebraska-Kearney, but bounced back to defeat Fort Hays State.
 
• Lindenwood is 1-4 all-time against Washburn, including a 1-2 mark in games played in Topeka, Kan. Last year, the Lions lost both meetings by two points. The Lions are 3-1 all-time against Emporia State, including a 2-1 record in Emporia, Kan. Last season at the Hornets, Lindenwood earned a 71-56 road victory.
 
Lindenwood Notes
• Jackson Price was the team's leading scorer in the Missouri Southern contest. He is the sixth Lion to lead the team in scoring in 12 games this season. Price is the team's leading bench scorer with 10.2 points a game. Price has scored in double-figures in seven out of the last 10 contests.
 
• The Lions had several season-lows against Missouri Southern, including in all three shooting percentage categories. Lindenwood also got to the free-throw line a season-low 16 times. It is now 3-9 over the last two years when shooting fewer free throws than its opponents.
 
• Dominique Dobbs has been one of the top freshman in the MIAA this season. He leads the conference freshmen with 9.4 rebounds a game, which is double the next closest player. Dobbs is second among freshmen with 14.6 points a game.
 
• Chandler Diekvoss is also one of the top young players in the league. Among sophomores and freshmen, Diekvoss has the highest scoring average in the league with 16.3 points a game. Diekvoss is second among that group in rebounds with 7.3 boards a game.
 
• Only five players in the MIAA rank in the top-15 in points and rebounds. Dominique Dobbs and Chandler Diekvoss are two of them.

• The Lions rank 15th in NCAA Division II in fewest turnovers per game (10.8). It has turned the ball over more than 12 times just once this year.
 
• The Lions rank 36th nationally in free-throw percentage with a .758 mark. Brenon Larson-Gulsvig is 38th in the nation, making just under 90 percent of his free-throw attempts.
 
• Lindenwood is fourth in the MIAA and 47th nationally by allowing 68.2 points a game. Over the last two years, the Lions are 18-9 when holding opponents under 70 points a game, compared to 7-8 when opponents score 70 or more points.
 
• The Lions have outrebounded or had the same amount of rebounds as their opponents in 10 of the 12 games this season. In those 10 contests, Lindenwood is 9-1.
 
• Lindenwood is third in the MIAA by making 9.3 three-pointers a game. Jackson Price leads the team with 24 made three-pointers, one more than LJ McIntosh and two more than Brenon Larson-Gulsvig. Eleven of the 13 players who have played this season have at least one three-pointer.
 
• Senior Rayko Dundalov is one appearance away from his 50th game of his career. He is second on the team in games played behind LJ McIntosh (69).
 
A Look At The Ichabods/Hornets
• Washburn is undefeated in non-conference games this season, but dropped its first two MIAA games of the season. The Ichabods have the second-highest scoring offense in the MIAA with 84.7 points a contest.
 
• Cameron Wiggins is the leading scorer for the Ichabods with 15.2 points a game. Brady Skeens leads the MIAA with 11.4 rebounds a contest.
 
• Emporia State lost five of six games at one point this season, but has bounced back to win two of its last three, including an impressive 75-67 road win over Fort Hays State.
 
• Brandon Hall and Brian Morton both average over 13 points a game for the Hornets. Hall is fourth in the MIAA with 4.1 assists a contest.
