Women’s Water Polo Wins Three at Lindenwood Invitational

After a string of injuries resulted in the team falling short of advancement to the national championship in 2015, women's water polo wanted to start the new season on a positive note, and the Lady Lions did just that, with three wins and only one loss at the Lindenwood Invitational February 6-7 at the St. Peter's Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo. 10754

The Lady Lions began the weekend with a big 14-2 victory over Washington University on Saturday.  They followed it with another strong performance that concluded with a 12-2 win over the Notre Dame B squad, but the Fighting Irish A team turned the tables by handing Lindenwood a 12-4 defeat.  The Lady Lions finished the weekend with a 15-6 victory over Illinois State on Sunday.

Junior Abigail Conner led the offense with 13 goals in the four games. Goalkeeper Dani Rust defended the cage with an impressive 24 saves.  Captain Rachel Rust was also instrumental on the weekend.  The Lindenwood senior had 11 steals and played a powerful two meter defense to help the team begin the year with a 3-1 record.
