Cory Arentsen Named First-Team All-MIAA

Lindenwood men's basketball player Cory Arentsen was named a first-team all-MIAA selection on Tuesday. He is the first Lions player to be named a first-team all-conference pick since Lindenwood joined the MIAA.
 
Stanislas Heili was also named to the MIAA All-Defensive Team. He is the first Lindenwood player named to the all-defensive squad.
 
Arentsen is having one of the top seasons in Lindenwood history for an individual player, and was a unanimous selection for the first-team. He is third in the MIAA and 12th in NCAA Division II with 23.7 points per game. Arentsen also leads the MIAA in free-throw percentage, and is fifth nationally with a .903 mark. In other MIAA categories, Arentsen ranks 16th in rebounding (5.5), fourth in three-pointers made per game (2.8), ninth in three-point field-goal percentage (.405), 11th in field-goal percentage (.482), 17th in assists, and 32nd in steals.
 
Heili leads the MIAA with 2.5 blocks a game, and he ranks 12th nationally in that category. He has set Lindenwood's single-season (70) and single-game (7) blocking records this season. Heili has played a big role in the Lions leading the conference in scoring defense (65.5), field-goal percentage defense (.407), and blocks (5.00). Heili also ranks fourth in the MIAA with 8.0 rebounds a game, including 4.9 rebounds on the defensive side of the ball.
 
The Lions will start the MIAA Tournament on Tuesday evening with a 7 p.m. game at Pittsburg State.
