Baseball Faces Four-Game Road Trip

The Lindenwood baseball team will hit the road for a four-game road trip in the state of Missouri.  The Lions will travel to Warrensburg, Mo. to take on Central Missouri on Tuesday at 6 p.m., and then take on Missouri Western for a three-game stint in St. Joseph, Mo. beginning on Friday afternoon.

Last Week
Lindenwood went 2-2 this past week in four home games over the span of five days.  The Lions fell in extra inning to Central Missouri on Tuesday, but bounced back to defeat Southwest Baptist in two out of the three games at the Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.

Lindenwood played a great game against Central Missouri on Tuesday, but ran out of gas in the extra frames.  Connor Law pitched 8.1 innings, allowed just one earned run on seven hits, and tallied two strikeouts.  Nathan Prindle, Wes Degener, and Ryan Sosnowski each had two hits in the game, but the three runs scored by the Lions were not enough, as Lindenwood fell 4-3 in 11 innings.

The Lions rebounded with a win on Thursday night over Southwest Baptist.  Brenden Feldmann threw 6.2 innings, allowed three runs on five hits, but struck out six Bearcat batters en route to his first win of the season.  Lindenwood was tied after four innings, but a big fifth inning helped propel the Lions to victory.  Drew Quinones hit a two-RBI single to jumpstart a four-run bottom of the fifth inning, allowing Lindenwood to take a 5-1 lead.  The Lions scored four more runs in the game, but had to tighten up in the end to hang on to a 9-6 victory.

In the second game, Prindle had a field day with three hits and three RBI, while drawing two walks.  Prindle was a single away from hitting for the cycle, and the Lions fell 13-10 in the second game.  The Lions found solid success at the plate from multiple players, but along with Prindle, Degener had a three-hit day with two runs scored.  Lindenwood looked to close out the series with a win on Sunday.

Brendan Kleekamp gave Lindenwood a fighting chance in game three, as he went 8.2 innings, allowed two earned runs on nine hits, and registered two strikeouts.  Kleekamp had offensive support throughout the game as Prindle, Degener, and Jake Cooper each had two hits, and Quinones tallied three hits in the game.  The Lions played strong in game three, and Law came in to close the door in the final out of the game for a two-pitch save, and a 6-5 Lindenwood win.

Prindle was dominate at the plate with a .714 batting average (10-for-14), a slugging percentage of 1.429, and an OBP of .789 during the week.  Nathan crossed the plate 10 times, drove in seven runs, hit three doubles, two triples, and belted a home run.  Prindle also drew a team-high four walks, and was hit by a pitch once.

On The Season
Prindle is leading the squad with a .405 batting average, seven home runs, 11 doubles, 34 runs scored, and a .861 slugging percentage.  Quinones is hitting .372 on the season, with a team-high 29 RBI, three triples, and 35 hits.  Degener, Sosnowski, and Mike Ehrhard are all hitting over .300 on the season with a combined 23 extra base hits.

Law is leading the pitching staff with a 3.25 ERA, a 3-1 record, 36 innings pitched, and 31 strikeouts.  Law has appeared in eight games, and has registered on save.  Andrew Eilers has pitched 16.2 innings with an ERA of 3.78 for a 2-1 record this year.  Kleekamp has one of two complete games of the team with a 1-2 record, and a 4.84 ERA.  Kleekamp has thrown 35.1 innings with 12 strikeouts in 10 appearances.
