Men's Basketball Has Home Opener Tonight At 7 P.M.

Monday's Game At A Glance
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team has its home opener on Monday night at Hyland Arena. The Lions will face former NAIA regional rival Hannibal-LaGrange in a 7 p.m. contest.
 
• Lindenwood has started the season with a 3-1 mark, with two neutral site games and two away contests. Last weekend, the Lions travelled to Florida and defeated Florida Tech by a 76-66 margin.
 
• Hannibal-LaGrange enters play on Monday with a 1-5 overall record. Last week, it started conference play with a 69-62 win over Lyon, and a 57-55 loss against Central Baptist.
 
• The all-time series between Lindenwood and Hannibal-LaGrange is tied at 14 wins apiece. The majority of those contests took place between 1986-1998. Since 2009, Lindenwood has won the only two meetings between the two squads.
 
• Last season, Lindenwood defeated the Trojans by an 81-65 score. The Lions led by 12 at halftime, and had a lead as big as 25 points in the second half. Lindenwood shot 50.9 percent from the field, and it held Hannibal-LaGrange to just 37.7 percent shooting. Chandler Diekvoss and Dominique Dobbs both had double-doubles in the game.
 
Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood is turning the ball over less than nine times a game, and it has won the turnover margin in all four contests. The Lions have a +3.5 turnover margin on the year.
 
• The Lions are among the national leader with a 1.59 assist-to-turnover ratio. Adam Pohlman is second in the MIAA with a 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. Jackson Price is two assists shy of qualifying for the category, but he has a 5.0 assist-to-turnover ratio.
 
• Lindenwood is 3-0 this season when holding opponents below 70 points, and 0-1 when allowing 70 or more contests.
 
• Lindenwood has won or tied the rebounding battle in three straight games. The Lions have a +3.3 rebounding margin in that span.
 
• The Lions are averaging 27.5 points in the paint for the season, while holding opponents to just 18.5 points in the pain.
 
• In two of the team's three wins this season, Lindenwood has had to overcome deficits of nine points or more. In those two contests, the Lions have held the opposing teams to just 30.8 percent shooting from the field in the final 20 minutes of the game.

• Brad Newman has scored double-figure points in every game this season, including a career-high 23 against Truman. He has made two three-pointers in every game, and is shooting 47.1 percent from the field.
 
• Newman also leads the team with 17 made free throws and 20 free-throw attempts. He is making 85 percent of his free throws, including eight-of-eight in the final two minutes of games.
 
• Chandler Diekvoss ranks in the top-10 in the MIAA in scoring, rebounding, and field-goal percentage. Over the last three games, he is averaging 18.7 points and 9.7 rebounds a game.
 
• Adam Pohlman leads the team in both assists and steals. He has 14 assists and eight steals on the year. He ranks ninth in the conference in assists, and is fifth in steals.
 
• TJ Crockett has been the most consistent newcomer in 2017-18. He has scored at least six points, and has made one or two three-pointers in every game. Crockett has made 43.8 percent of his three-point attempts.
 
• Monday's tilt is the first in a three-game homestand for the Lions. Game two will be on Nov. 28 when Lindenwood hosts Beloit at 7 p.m.
 
A Look At The Trojans
• Hannibal-LaGrange is 1-4 on the season, including a 1-1 record in American Midwest Conference play. Three of the team's five games have been decided by seven points or less.
 
• The Trojans rank 17th at the NAIA Division I level with a .738 free-throw percentage. Trevor Ison is 11th nationally with a .929 percentage at the free-throw line.
 
• Tim Pace leads the team with 15.8 points a game, and also leads the team with nine three-pointers, 16 assists, and eight steals.
 
• Four other players are averaging over eight points a game in Brady Smith (10.4), Demetrius Early (9.6), Tyrone Hueitt (9.6), and Ison (8.4). Smith is the team's top rebounder with 5.0 boards a game.
