Men's Hoop Team Has Final Tuneup Before MIAA Play On Saturday

Saturday's Game At A Glance
- The Lindenwood men's basketball team has its final tuneup before conference action on Saturday afternoon at Hyland Arena. The Lions will be taking on Ecclesia in a 2 p.m. contest.
 
- Lindenwood has one of the top non-conference records in the MIAA. The Lions are 5-1 overall, which is tied for the third-best mark in the conference. Lindenwood is one of four teams in the MIAA with a winning streak of three games or longer.
 
- Last Tuesday, the Lions won their third straight game with an 83-58 victory over Beloit. Lindenwood opened up a double-digit lead just 3:38 into the game, and that lead did not drop to single digits for the rest of the game. The Lions had a +13 turnover margin in the game, and they earned a spot on the free-throw line 30 more times than the Buccaneers.
 
- Ecclesia is a NCCAA program out of Springdale, Ark. The Royals are 0-8 on the season, with their last loss coming against Oklahoma Panhandle State by an 80-59 margin.
 
- Lindenwood and Ecclesia have never met before in men's basketball. The Royals will be the second team this year that the Lions have played for the first time in program history.
 
Lindenwood Notes
- Lindenwood recorded 15 steals against Beloit, tying for the fourth-most in program history for a game. The current mark is 17 steals which was set against Warner Southern in 2005. The 15 steals were the most since the Lions joined the NCAA.
 
- Adam Pohlman had five of those steals against the Buccaneers, one short of the school's individual single-game mark. Those five steals led to seven points off turnovers for Lindenwood.
 
- Lindenwood ranks second in the MIAA with 8.5 steals a contest, and it is 44th in the nation. Adam Pohlman leads the league and is 32nd nationally with 2.50 assists a game.
 
- Lindenwood shot 38 free throws against the Buccaneers, which ranked tenth for the most free throws that a Lions team has shot in a game.
 
- Lindenwood currently leads the MIAA and is eighth in NCAA Division II with a +6.8 turnover margin. The Lions also rank fourth nationally by turning the ball over just 8.7 times a game.
 
- The Lions have held five of their six opponents to 66 points or less. Lindenwood ranks 27th nationally in scoring defense by allowing 64.7 points a contest. Over the last three games, the Lions have held opponents to just 61.7 points a game.
 
- In its current winning streak, the Lions have shot 45 percent or better from the field in each contest. Their turnover margin is also a +10.3 mark in the wins over Florida Tech, Hannibal-LaGrange, and Beloit.
 
- Chandler Diekvoss ranks in the top-eight in the MIAA in both scoring (17.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.5 rpg). Only two other players in the MIAA are in the top-eight in both categories.
 
- Brad Newman has scored in double-figures in 22 of his 32 career games, including all six this season. Over the last four contests this year, he is averaging 16.8 points a game.
 
- True freshman TJ Crockett earned his first collegiate start against Beloit and had 14 points. Crockett has scored in double-figures in half of the games this year, including each of the last two.
 
- Max Meylor has provided the Lions with a spark off the bench since he rejoined the team after his football season was over. In the last two games, he is averaging 12.5 points, and is shooting 64.3 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from three-point range.
 
- Lindenwood starts conference play on Dec. 7 with a 7:30 p.m. game at Pittsburg State.
 
A Look At The Royals
- Ecclesia is 0-8 on the season, and has lost nine straight games going back to last season. The Royals are coming off a 13-14 season last year.
 
- The Royals have been on the road for all but one game this season. Their one home game was its closest contest as they lost in overtime against Nebraska Christian.
 
- Ecclesia is averaging just under 70 points a game, but it is allowing 102.6 points a contest. Five of its eight opponents have hit the 100-point mark in 2017-18.
 
- Dequcelan Bagsby leads the team 12.6 points a game, and he has knocked down 14 three-pointers. Noah Banks leads the team with 6.9 rebounds a contest, and he is second with 8.6 points a game.
