Men's Basketball Celebrates New Year's Eve At Missouri-St. Louis

Sunday's Game At A Glance
- The Lindenwood men's basketball team rings out 2017 with its final non-conference game of the regular season. The Lions travel across the Missouri River for a regional showdown with Missouri-St. Louis on New Year's Eve at 3 p.m.
 
- Lindenwood went into its Christmas Break on a high note, with a last-second MIAA win over Emporia State, and a 56-point non-conference victory over Robert Morris-Springfield. The Lions are currently 9-3 overall and 2-2 in MIAA play.
 
- Missouri-St. Louis was in action last on Dec. 18-19 at the Maryville Classic. The Tritons lost to Oklahoma Christian, but bounced back to defeat Purdue Northwest. Missouri-St. Louis is 7-4 on the season and 2-1 in GLVC action.
 
- Missouri-St. Louis leads the all-time series with Lindenwood by an 8-2 margin, including a 2-1 edge since the Lions moved to the NCAA. The Lions are 0-7 in games played at Missouri-St. Louis.
 
- Last season, Lindenwood defeated Missouri-St. Louis by an 86-77 score. The Lions won the game in the first half by outscoring the Tritons 47-38. Chandler Diekvoss had a game-high 29 points for Lindenwood.
 
Lindenwood Notes
- Lindenwood currently has a 7-1 non-conference record this season. With a win against Missouri-St. Louis, the Lions will clinch their best regular season non-conference winning percentage since joining the NCAA.
 
- The Lions cracked the 100-point mark for the first time this season against Robert Morris-Springfield. The 112 points tied for the sixth-most in school history, and was the most for the program since the 2013-14 season.
 
- Lindenwood also made the single-game record book in that game in two other categories. It had 25 assists, tying for the fourth-most in program history. That mark was the most for the Lions since the 2011-12 season. Lindenwood's 56-point margin of victory tied for the sixth-most in team history. It was the second time since 2001 where the Lions won by 56 or more points.
 
- Through Dec. 19, Lindenwood ranked third in NCAA Division II in fewest turnovers per game (9.0), sixth in turnover margin (+6.0), and ninth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.67).
 
- The Lions rank fourth in the MIAA with 8.9 three-pointers per game. Over their last five games, Lindenwood is averaging 10.2 three-pointers a game, and is shooting 41.8 percent from beyond the arc.

- Chandler Diekvoss will be chasing the 1,000-point club in the second-half of the season. The junior is 188 points away from becoming the 12th Lion in program history with at least 1,000 career points.
 
- Adam Pohlman is among the MIAA leaders in steals (1st), assists (4th), and assist-to-turnover ratio (2nd). He has also improved his offense this year, averaging over three points a game more than last year, and shooting nearly nine percent better from the field than 2016-17.
 
- TJ Crockett had a career-high 27 points against Robert Morris-Springfield after shooting nine-of-11 from the field and four-of-six from three-point range. Crockett has four double-figure scoring games this season, and has made at least one three-pointer in nine of the 12 games.
 
- Five Lions are averaging at least one three-pointer a game this season. Brad Newman and Jackson Price lead the team with 21 on the season.
 
- Lindenwood's bench scored 62 points last time out, and is averaging 24.6 points a game. TJ Crockett and Jackson Price both average over eight points a game to lead the scoring off the bench.
 
- Lindenwood resumes conference play on a two-game road trip. The Lions start their Oklahoma series on Jan. 4 at Northeastern State.
 
A Look At The Tritons
- Missouri-St. Louis has won four out of its last five contests to move to 7-4 on the season. In conference play, the Tritons have wins over Truman and William Jewell, and a loss to Drury.
 
- Missouri-St. Louis is 4-0 at home this season, and has won five straight going back to last season.
 
- The Tritons are ranked third in the GLVC and 56th in NCAA Division II in scoring defense. Missouri-St. Louis is allowing just 69.5 points a game.
 
- Steven Davis leads Missouri-St. Louis with 14.0 points a game, and he is ranked 26th nationally by making 3.27 three-pointers a game.
 
- Elijah Watson is the GLVC leader and is 28th nationally with 6.0 assists a game.
