Men's Basketball Looks To Continue Winning Streak At No. 3 Northwest Missouri

Thursday's Game At A Glance
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team starts the final week of the regular season with a road trip to No. 3 Northwest Missouri. The Lions and Bearcats will tipoff at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday in Maryville, Mo.
 
• Lindenwood has won four straight games, and six out of its last seven. Last Saturday, the Lions went into Warrensburg, Mo. and earned a 59-51 over Central Missouri. The Lions are now 20-10 on the season and 9-8 in MIAA play.
 
• Northwest Missouri lost for the first time all season last Saturday with an 88-71 setback at Missouri Southern. The Bearcats are 24-1 overall, and they have a 16-1 conference record.
 
• Northwest Missouri leads the all-time series by a 10-1 margin. The Bearcats are 7-0 all-time against the Lions in Maryville, Mo.  Earlier this season, Northwest Missouri defeated Lindenwood by a 89-64 score in St. Charles. The Bearcats shot 67.9 percent in the game, compared to just 40.4 percent for the Lions.
 
• Lindenwood has already clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament, but its seed is still to be decided. The Lions are currently tied for seventh in the standings. They are just two games out of third place in the league, but also just two games ahead of 11th place.
 
Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood reached the 20-win plateau last weekend, the first time it has done so since joining the NCAA. It is the eighth 20th-win season in program history, and the first since going 28-3 during the 2011-12 campaign.
 
• The Lions are 5-3 in MIAA road games this year, including wins in five out of their last six contests.
 
• Lindenwood has won six out of its seven last contests. In the five MIAA victories during that stretch, the Lions are allowing just 60.8 points a game, and opponents are shooting 41.5 percent from the field and 30.4 percent from three-point range. All five opponents were held below their current season average, by an average of 13 points a game.
 
• Over the last nine games, the Lions are shooting 50 percent from the field as a team, including 36.5 percent from three-point range. Lindenwood is averaging 73.4 points in that span.
 
• The Lions are third in the MIAA by having a .338 three-point field-goal percentage defense.
 
• Lindenwood has outrebounded its opponents in four straight games. In that span, it has an average of a +8 rebounding margin. The Lions are 15-0 this year when outrebounding opponents.

• Chandler Diekvoss has been the most consistent scorer lately for Lindenwood, hitting double-figure points in nine straight games. In that span, he is shooting 51.9 percent from the field, and averaging 16.6 points a game.
 
• Dominique Dobbs is ranked fourth in the MIAA with a 7.9 rebounding average. His 236 total rebounds currently ranks eighth in Lindenwood's single-season list.
 
• Jackson Price has made 63 three-pointers this year, which ranks eighth among the program's single-season records. He is eight away from breaking into the top-five.
 
• Lindenwood's top four scorers this year are freshmen and sophomores, and all of the team's freshmen and sophomores have combined for 73.8 percent of the team's points.
 
• Lindenwood has clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament, and it has now made the tournament all four years that it has been eligible. The top four seeds in the tournament will receive first-round byes, and the other eight teams will play a first-round game on Feb. 27 at campus sites. The final three rounds will be in Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City on March 2, 4, and 5. The Lions will be looking to advance to Kansas City for the third straight year.
 
A Look At The Bearcats
• Northwest Missouri has already clinched this year's MIAA regular season championship. The Bearcats have won four straight conference titles.
 
• Northwest Missouri ranks second in NCAA Division II by allowing just 62.3 points a game. Offensively, the Bearcats are second in the nation in field-goal percentage and lead the nation in three-point field-goal percentage.
 
• Justin Pitts ranks in the top-five in the MIAA by averaging 19.4 points a game. He is also second in assists with a 5.4 average, and is fourth nationally with a 3.4 assist-to-turnover ratio. Pitts also leads the team with 42 steals.
 
• Chris-Ebou Ndow leads the team with 6.3 rebounds a game, and D'Vante Mosby and Brett Dougherty each have 10 blocks.
