To the Lacrosse Community and Beyond,
We would like to take a quick moment to express a statement of gratitude for all the generous support our program has received in light of the recent news regarding
Isaiah Kozak.
The past 48 hours or so has been a testing time for our student-athletes and those who had the privilege of interacting with Isaiah on a daily basis. Isaiah was genuine, loving and positive. He was a light in the lives of everyone he met. He was hardworking and a role model for his teammates on and off of the lacrosse field. His passion and dedication for this sport and Lindenwood University was contagious and felt by us all.
Unfortunately all too often it takes an extreme circumstance in life, such as a loss of a loved one, for us to realize the support that surrounds us. However, support is what we needed this week, and it is exactly what the lacrosse community has given our university, our student-athletes, and us as a coaching staff.
As the news of the situation began to spread, support started to fill our in-boxes from individuals and programs from coast to coast. Hundreds of people, many of which we have never met, have come together and donated towards a gofundme account set up in Isaiah's legacy. Student-athletes from rival programs, recruits, and many more from all over the country have taken to social media platforms to express their support for Isaiah's family and his teammates.
Our staff and university must thank you, the lacrosse community and beyond, for all you have done for Isaiah's family and our student-athletes. We must thank you for showing us there is much to be proud of in this world and especially in the game of lacrosse. We must thank you for showing our student-athletes that support exists even when it's not noticeably visible. We must thank you for helping us honor the legacy of
Isaiah Kozak, which this young man greatly deserved.
