Men's Basketball Hosts Battle Of The Lions On Thursday

Thursday's Game At A Glance
- The Lindenwood men's basketball team returns home this Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. game against Missouri Southern. Both teams are in the upper half of the conference standings, and Lindenwood is one game back of Missouri Southern.
 
- Lindenwood enters play this week with an 11-4 overall record and a 3-3 MIAA mark. The Lions saw their four-game winning streak snapped in a 98-87 overtime loss to Central Oklahoma last Saturday.
 
- Missouri Southern is 9-6 overall and 4-2 in conference action. It is coming off a 72-66 home victory over Missouri Western last weekend.
 
-Missouri Southern has a narrow 5-4 lead in the all-time series with Lindenwood. Lindenwood is 3-2 against Missouri Southern at Hyland Arena, but Missouri Southern won last year's meeting in St. Charles by a 71-55 margin.
 
- Earlier this season, Missouri Southern defeated Lindenwood by a 97-71 margin in Joplin, Mo. Missouri Southern shot 65.5 percent from the field in the game, including 14-of-26 from three-point range. Chandler Diekvoss and Brad Newman each had team-highs of 21 points for Lindenwood.
 
Lindenwood Notes
- Lindenwood committed a season-low four turnovers against Central Oklahoma, its lowest mark during its NCAA era. It also had a 4.0 assist-to-turnover ratio in the game, another top mark since moving to the NCAA.
 
- The Lions are third in NCAA Division II with 9.3 turnovers a game. Among all levels of NCAA basketball, only four teams have a lower turnover per game mark than Lindenwood.
 
- Lindenwood ranks 11th in the nation with a 1.58 assist-to-turnover ratio, and it is 13th with a +4.5 turnover margin.
 
- In six conference games, the Lions are averaging 10.0 three-pointers a game, and it has double-figure three-pointers in four games. In that span, Lindenwood is shooting 42.0 percent from three-point range.
 
- Lindenwood is 7-0 this season when it outrebounds its opposition. In three of its four losses, it has been outrebounded by 10 or more boards.
 
- The Lions have shot 46 percent or better in five consecutive games, and in that span they are shooting 51.8 percent from the field. Lindenwood is 9-2 when shooting 45 percent or better this year.

-Jackson Price has back-to-back games with 28 or more points, with 29 against Northeastern State and 28 versus Central Oklahoma. The last Lion to score 28 in back-to-back games was Cory Artensen in the 2015-16 season.
 
- In his last four games, Jackson Price has made 15 three-pointers, and he is shooting 65.1 percent from the field and 65.2 percent from three-point range.
 
- Brad Newman also had a good week shooting last week. He averaged 15.5 points in the two games, and shot 47.6 percent from the field and 40 percent from three-point range.
 
- Adam Pohlman had 13 assists and no turnovers against Central Oklahoma. He has two games this season with double-figure assists. Only one other player in the MIAA has two double-figure assists games this season, and the 13 assists is the most in the MIAA in 2017-18 for a game.
 
- In six games at Hyland Arena this season, Chandler Diekvoss is averaging a team-high 16.2 points a game, and is shooting 58.5 percent from the field.
 
- Lindenwood stays home this Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. game against Pittsburg State. The Lions won the first meeting this season with the Gorillas by a 90-85 margin.
 
A Look At Missouri Southern
- Missouri Southern is one of the hottest teams in the MIAA, winning seven out of its last eight games. It comes to St. Charles on a three-game winning streak.
 
- Missouri Southern has one of the most impressive wins in the conference this year, defeating No. 1 Northwest Missouri last week by an 83-77 margin.
 
- The Lions are 6-1 on their home court, but just 3-5 away from Joplin, including a 1-2 mark in true road games. They are 0-2 on the road in MIAA action.
 
- Missouri Southern ranks 19th in NCAA Division II with a .413 three-point percentage. The Lions rank 54th with 9.5 made three-pointers a game. Elijah Clark leads the MIAA with 3.53 made three-pointers a game, and he is making 45.3 percent from beyond the arc.
