Lions and Tigers Face Each Other At Hyland Arena On Saturday Afternoon

Saturday's Game At A Glance
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team hosts Fort Hays State on Saturday afternoon at Hyland Arena in a 3:30 p.m. game. The Lions enter the contest just a half game behind the Tigers in the MIAA standings.
 
• Lindenwood is currently 13-7 on the season and 5-6 in the MIAA play. The Lions sit tied for eighth in the conference standings. On Thursday night, the Lions fell by a 67-64 score against Nebraska-Kearney.
 
• Fort Hays State is 12-7 on the year, and is .500 in conference action with a 5-5 mark. The Tigers are tied for sixth in the MIAA. On Thursday, they lost a 77-56 decision at Lincoln.
 
• Lindenwood leads the all-time series with Fort Hays State by a 4-2 margin, and the Lions have won two straight in the series. The Lions are 3-0 against the Tigers in Hyland Arena, with an average margin of victory of 19 points a game.
 
• Last season, Lindenwood earned the first road victory for either team in the series history with Fort Hays State with a 71-62 win in Hays, Kan. The Lions trailed 57-56 with six minutes remaining, but they went on a 13-2 run over the next 5:40 to capture the win. Chandler Diekvoss had a team-high 19 points, Dominique Dobbs just missed a double-double by one point, and Zac Haese came off the bench to score 14 points.
 
Lindenwood Notes
• Lindenwood is 10-0 this season when leading at halftime, and 3-7 when trailing at the break.
 
• In MIAA play, the Lions have been outscored in the first half in eight of the 11 games. In nine of the MIAA contests, Lindenwood has outscored or had the same amount of points as its opponents in the second half. The Lions are shooting 53.8 percent from the field in the second half of MIAA games, compared to 42.4 percent in the first half of conference contests.
 
• Lindenwood's setback on Thursday was the first time this season in 13 games that the Lions have lost when holding a team under 70 points. In the Lance Randall era, the Lions are 39-12 when holding teams under the 70-point mark.
 
• The Lions rank fifth in NCAA Division II by turning the ball over just 9.6 times a game. Lindenwood is also 21st in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.42) and turnover margin (+3.8).
 
• Saturday's game is the team's final contest in the month of January. So far in the month, the Lions have a 3-4 record. It is averaging 71.4 points a game, while allowing 73.7 points a contest. Brad Newman has led the team in scoring in this span with 17.6 points a game, just ahead of Jackson Price's 16.7 scoring average.

• Adam Pohlman had a career-high in points against Nebraska-Kearney with 22. He made eight-of-11 from the field, and made all three three-pointers he attempted. Pohlman has nearly doubled his scoring average this season, going from 4.2 points a game to 8.0 points a contest. He has seven double-figure point games this season, compared to two last season.
 
• Adam Pohlman ranks eighth nationally with a 3.38 assist-to-turnover ratio. He leads the MIAA in that category, and is also first in just conference games with a 3.6 mark. Pohlman is third in the conference with 4.4 assists a game, and is fifth with 1.70 steals a contest.
 
• Brad Newman has scored in double-figures in eight straight games. He has scored 10 or more points in 18 contests, the most on the team. In just MIAA play, Newman is averaging 18.4 points a game, the fifth-most in the league.
 
• Jackson Price has made at least one three-pointer in 14 straight games. In less than two seasons at Lindenwood, he has made 119 three-pointers, which ranks seventh in the school's record book for career three-pointers.
 
• Dominique Dobbs has 19 blocked shots over the last seven games. He has 62 blocks in his career, which ranks fifth in school history.
 
A Look At The Tigers
• Fort Hays State enters Saturday's game on a two-game losing streak, and it has lost three straight road games. The Tigers are 2-6 away from their home arena this year, but three of those losses were in overtime.
 
• The Tigers are led by their defense which is ranked 29th in NCAA Division II by allowing just 68.0 points a game. Fort Hays State leads the MIAA by forcing 15.4 turnovers a game, and it also leads the conference in steals and three-point field-goal percentage defense.
 
• Hadley Gillum is fifth in the conference with 17.8 points a game, and he leads the team with 6.5 rebounds a contest.
 
• Kyler Kinnamon is fifth in the MIAA with 78 assists. He helps the Tigers rank in the top-25 nationally in fewest turnovers per game.
