Men's Basketball Looks To Continue Defensive Success At Missouri Western

Thursday's Game At A Glance
• The Lindenwood men's basketball team has seven regular season games remaining, starting with Thursday's night game at Missouri Western. The Lions look for a strong finish to their schedule as they fight for a high seed in the MIAA postseason tournament.
 
• Lindenwood enters play this week with a 14-7 overal record, and a 6-6 conference mark. The Lions have won three out of their last four games, including a 69-63 win over Fort Hays State last Saturday.
 
• Missouri Western is currently 3-15 overall and 1-10 in MIAA action. The Griffons are on a nine-game losing streak, including a 94-60 loss to Northwest Missouri last weekend.
 
• Lindenwood leads the all-time series with Missouri Western by a 7-2 margin. The Lions have a 3-2 record at MWSU Fieldhouse, including a two-point win last season. Four of the five games in St. Joseph have been decided by 10 points or fewer
 
• Last season, Lindenwood swept the season series with the Griffons. In St. Charles, the Lions won by a 71-63 margin, and in St. Joseph, Lindenwood won by a 67-65 score. Jackson Price led the Lions with 21 points in the first game, and hit a last second game-winning three-pointer in the second showdown.

• Lindenwood has held opponents to under 70 points in 14 of its 21 games, including each of the last four. The Lions are 13-1 in those contests.
 
• Over the last four games, the Lions defense has held opponents to just 42.1 percent shooting from the field, including 33.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Lindenwood's defense rating (points allowed per 100 possessions) is 97.4 in that span.
 
• Lindenwood has been a second-half team this season. The Lions are averaging 41.8 points a game in the second half of games, compared to 34.0 points in the first half of contests. • Dominique Dobbs is averaging 9.4 points over the last seven contests. He is shooting over 70 percent from the field in that span.
 
• Max Meylor has made at least one three-pointer in 15 of the 18 games he has played this season. He is shooting 52 percent from three-point range for the year.
 
A Glance At The Griffons
• Missouri Western is looking for its first win since winning a MIAA contest on Dec. 2 against Northeastern State by a 70-66 score. The Griffons have lost by single-digit points in five of their nine losses in their current losing skid.
 
• The Griffons rank seventh in the MIAA in scoring defense by allowing 72.2 points a game. They are holding opponents to 44.4 percent shooting from the field.
 
• Lavon Hightower leads the team offensively with 13.8 points a game, and he is also the team leader with 5.3 rebounds a contest. Hightower gets to the free-throw line nearly five times a game, and is shooting 79.3 percent from the free-throw line.
 
• Cole Clearman is averaging a team-high 3.2 assists a game. He also paces the squad with 21 steals and 31 three-pointers.
